“How do I make French 2 interesting as we review and the students already know one another (too!) well?” is a common question raised on FB as dedicated teachers use their summer comp time* to craft and improve their lessons. What software do you use at school? PowerPoint? Notebook? ActivInspire? ClassFlow? It doesn’t matter but for this example we will use PowerPoint. So make a slide show for each day’s lesson.
List what you plan to teach and create an interesting slide for it.
Line up the slides in the sequence you intend to teach.
Create you usual opening and closing slides that you will use every day.
Insert a Transition video in between your slides – an automatic signal to the students of new and fresh songs that were different from the previous year.
Review by setting up slides to assess the students as to what they remember, what they had forgotten but now can remember, and what they need to completely revisit.
If you want to review vocabulary, create the slide with the image, then duplicate it with the image and the vocabulary word. Give them the vocabulary list from last year to write in the meaning. Follow up with a compelling activity.
Use a remote presentation device so you can walk all around your room while clicking through the slides.
