A new teacher asked me when to teach each topic and how to teach.
How to teach is best answered by joining my 5 day challenge and receiving the daily tech guide day 1 to show you how to plan a lesson.
When to teach varies – I have to move my chapters around so that we take the same mid-term exam as the French, German, and Mandarin teachers. Here is my outline for 5 days a week 45 minute classes using my daily tech guides. I do teach all ar er ir conjugations at once and then reenforce the verbs when we teach in context. Also realize that there are a lot of partial weeks around vacation and holidays so something might actually be 3 weeks and 3 days before Spring break.
As for eighth grade part two, we devote 4 weeks to review. This year we suspect it will be 6 weeks. Then Chapters 5A – 8B = 8 chapters and most take 3 weeks if you are teaching the past tense separately or else 4 weeks if otherwise. So 4 weeks review + 8 chapters x 4 weeks each = 36 weeks. I haven’t taught this in a few years so I don’t have it broken down like I do the 7th grade but I hope this helps.
